Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Minority Wing Vice President U K Monu said he was an aspirant to contest Lok Sabha elections from Dakshina Kannada district.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said, “I have discharged my duties as a party worker and maintained the dignity since 1970. When I wished to contest the Parliamentary election in 2009 and 2014, the High Command instructed me to constest DCC election for selection of candidate. Accordingly, I contested and lost my candidature to my senior B Janardhana Poojary.”
“I will place my candidature before AICC observer who will visit the district on Saturday. I am confident that a majority of the people in the district will support my candidature,” he said.
KPCC Secretary T M Shahid said that the BJP candidates had been winning the constituency for the last 35 years. “No candidate from Muslim community has been fielded in the constituency for the last 16 Lok Sabha elections.”
