<p>Mysuru: <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/karnataka">Karnataka</a> Forest and Environment Minister Eshwar B Khandre has instructed the officials to implement a two-stage inspection system to prevent plastic waste, which endangers wildlife, from entering forests.</p><p>He was chairing a meeting with the Forest department officials here on Sunday. </p><p>Large size dustbins are kept at the checkposts near Nagarahole, Metikuppe, Kalahalli and Veeranahosahalli ranges. Around five to six kg of plastic waste is collected in each bin, every day. Besides, Forest department personnel enter the forest and collect plastic waste. Instead of this, a two-stage inspection system should be implemented at the checkposts itself, he told the officials.</p>.Human race is always close to major disasters due to human-animal-bird conflicts: Dr Ishwar Gilada.<p>The two-stage inspection system should be implemented in the vehicles that enter the forest. In the first stage, the vehicle riders should be instructed to voluntarily dispose of single-use plastic items like plastic bottles, cups, plates, and carry bags. In the second stage, the personnel should inspect the vehicles and a fine should be imposed in case if any single-use plastic items are found, he said. </p><p>Khandre also expressed anxiety over the rising human-animal conflict in the region. “The leopards are straying into the towns. The elephants too are straying into the villages. Hence, measures should be taken to ensure that there is no shortage of food and water inside the forest,” he said.</p><p>He also directed the officials to implement an online ticket booking system for the Ranganathittu bird sanctuary in Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya district.</p><p>Khandre also took part in the valedictory ceremony of three-day Veerashaiva Lingayat Global Conclave, at Maharaja's College Grounds in Mysuru.</p>.Kerala declares human-animal conflict a 'state-specific disaster'.<p><strong>Gundlupet</strong></p><p>Earlier, Khandre inaugurated the new office of the Conservator of Forest, Bandipur Tiger Reserve at Bandipur in Gundlupet taluk. He also took part in the meeting of tribal leaders and heard their grievances.</p><p>With the special cabinet meeting to be held at Male Mahadeshwara Hills in February, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the problems related to tribals would be resolved, he assured. The government is concerned over the tribals and discussions on rehabilitation of tribals would be held during the cabinet meeting, he said.</p>
