Karnataka: Forest Department rescue 10-month-old female tiger cub in Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagar: The Forest Department personnel, who are continuing the combing operation for the elusive tiger cubs, rescued another cub near Nanjadevanapura, in Chamarajanagar taluk, on Tuesday. It is a 10-month-old female tiger cub, which fell into the cage laid by the Forest department.

It may be mentioned that out of four missing tiger cubs, two cubs were found on December 15 and 17. The cub found is the third cub. The cubs rescued so far have been kept at the camp and are being monitored closely, officials said.

The three rescued sub-adult tigers are said to be the cubs of the adult tigress that was sighted with four cubs at Nanjadevanapura, in December 2025. The search is on for one more cub.

The Forest department personnel launched the operation more than a month ago, after a tigress and its four cubs were sighted at Nanjadevanapura and surrounding villages, creating panic among the people.

Four tamed elephants from Dubare elephant camp, thermal drones, darting experts, veterinarians and staff were pressed into service.

A seven-year-old tigress fell into a trap laid by the Forest department, near Veeranapura lake, in Chamarajanagar taluk on January 9. The tigress was said to be the one that was sighted with its four cubs at Nanjadevanapura and surrounding villages.
