<p>Bengaluru: The Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited (KMF) is considering setting up an in-house facility to produce dosa and idli batter, sources confirmed, amidst news about its batter launch plans under the Nandini brand being put on hold.</p><p>KMF chairman Bheema Naik confirmed this development to DH, noting that there were quality concerns with the pre-existing launch plans.</p><p>"We were to be in a co-packing agreement with a third-party producer of the dosa and idli batter. But if their batter has any quality issues, that would reflect poorly on us. Therefore, we decided to put that decision on hold. After the Tirupathi ghee issue made the news, KMF decided to relook its decision to go ahead with the existing plan. "We have put this decision on hold for at least a few months; it is not a recent decision," he said.</p><p>However, social media posts have been claiming this is linked to the Managing Director M K Jagadish's transfer, alleging that this is a reflection of vested interests within the government to prevent competition with other market players. He was reportedly spearheading the plan to expand into the dosa and idli batter market.</p><p>A source from KMF noted that the files related to this plan had been finalised, before Jagadish's transfer order but they will likely go nowhere now. "We are not sure what will happen going forward but that plan has been halted," the source said.</p><p>Jagadish's transfer order came earlier this week. He is awaiting posting.</p><p>Naik noted that there is a "99% chance" that the plan will not progress. However, he rubbished claims that this decision was linked to Jagadish's transfer.</p><p>Meanwhile, state BJP chief BY Vijayendra slammed the Congress government, accusing the party of "destroying Nandini from within" due to an alleged Kerala lobby. "Now, CM Siddaramaiah and DCM Shivakumar, hand-in-hand with the Kerala lobby, have sabotaged Nandini to protect private brands," he wrote. </p>
