<p>Mangaluru: Puttur CMC (City Municipal Council) issued directions requiring all business owners and traders operating within its jurisdiction to obtain a separate licence if they sell tobacco and its related products alongside their existing business. Those renewing their business licences must inform the municipal office if they engage in tobacco sales and secure a separate license.</p><p>Failure to comply will result in legal action, including fines and suspension of the business without prior notice if tobacco products are found during inspections. Accordingly, we have announced the implementation of the government guidelines in CMC limits. The government also has issued guidelines on the fee to be collected from shops that apply for separate licence for sale of tobacco products,” said CMC Commissioner Madhu S Manohar.</p>
