Kodava Shuttle Badminton Tournament from April 9

Kodava Shuttle Badminton Tournament will be held at the indoor stadium of Kodava Samaja, Napoklu, from April 9 to 11, said Napoklu Kodava Samaja Sports, Cultural and Recreation Club president Biddatanda S Thammaiah.

Addressing reporters at Kodava Samaja Club, he said that the tournament planned last year was cancelled due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown.

The indoor stadium where the tournament will be held has been built at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, with the motto of providing opportunities to rural sports talents. Sportspersons from other districts and states are expected to take part as well, he said.

The tournament’s technical director Pemmadiyanda Venu Appanna said that there are seven categories in the tournament: Three for children, three for men and one for women.

Around 150 teams are expected to take part in the tournament and Rs 3 lakh will be spent on the tournament, he said.

Teams should enrol their names before April 4.

Club secretary Nayakanda Deepu Changappa and director Boppera Jaya Uttappa were present.
