Public Works Minister and JD(S) leader H D Revanna on Sunday alleged that senior BJP leader K S Eshwarappa was conspiring to defeat his party candidate for the bypoll to Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency B Y Raghavendra.
Addressing the reporters here, Revanna said, “While BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa is striving to ensure his son Raghavendra cross the line in the byelection to Shimoga Parliamentary seat, K S Eshwarappa has hatched a conspiracy to defeat his party candidate.”
To a query on Yeddyurappa’s allegations that JD(S) was a family affair, Revanna said, “Yeddyurappa keeps saying that Deve Gowda indulge in family politics. What is he doing, then? He could have fielded a party worker instead of his son (Raghavendra) from Shimoga. Even, Sriramulu could have put a part worker as candidate from Bellary instead of fielding his sister Shantha, Revanna said.”
On the allegations by the BJP that the PWD minister was involved in cash-for-transfer scam, Revanna said, “I have transferred engineers to Hubballi and Shivamogga as suggested by Yeddyurappa. Despite this, they (BJP) accuse the state government of involving in transfer scam. Let him (Yeddyurappa) tell how much he’s paid to get the engineers transferred to Hubballi and Shivamogga. We do not need suitcase,” the minister said.
