<p>Bengaluru: The state government on Monday notified the Registration (Karnataka Amendment) Act, 2025, after it received President Droupadi Murmu’s assent.</p>.<p>The new law introduces a reform with which physical appearance at sub-registrar offices will not be required during property registrations. The Registration (<a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/karnataka">Karnataka </a>Amendment) Bill was passed by the legislature in February 2024. </p><p>The amendment also makes it compulsory for general powers of attorney (GPA) to be registered.</p>.<p>In September 2024, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot reserved this Bill for President Murmu’s assent. He had returned the Bill to the state government, expressing safety concerns over ‘faceless’ registrations.</p>.<p>Murmu gave her assent to the Bill on July 22.</p>
