Mangala Alumni Association of Mangalore University organised ‘MAA Utsav’, a reunion of alumni of the Mangalore University, at Mangalagangothri on Sunday. The meet provided an opportunity to reconnect, renew, reminisce and celebrate friendship and togetherness.

The participants reminisced their stay at the campus by playing cricket and ‘Lagori’ on the occasion.

Speaking at the inauguration of MAA Utsav, Hampi Kannada University former vice chancellor and the student of first batch of Mangalore University Prof B A Viveka Rai said, “The friendship of old students have become strong digitally. The friendship should be in real sense as well.”

Rai said, “Students who have studied at Mangalore University and are settled elsewhere are in contact with their friends through social media. The university website should not only provide address of alumni but also provide a portal for the old students to share their experiences.”

“I am an oldest student of Mangalore University. As a first batch student and teaching faculty, I have a tryst with the university for the last 36 years. It was this Mangalagangothri that provided me an opportunity to become vice chancellor of Hampi Kannada University. When we came to the campus, it was barren. Now, it has changed a lot with green patch,” he said.
