If the BJP leaders and workers come knocking on your doors for votes, ask them why did the Modi-led Union government fail to fulfil their poll promises in the last five years, JD(S) leader Geetha Shivarajkumar told the villagers of Puradalu in the taluk on Monday.

She was campaigning for Madhu Bangarappa, the coalition nominee from Shimoga parliamentary constituency.

The BJP-led NDA government at the Centre has misled the citizens with false assurances. Achche din has remained elusive. The citizens did not get Rs 15 lakh into their accounts as promised by Modi. The Centre failed to generate jobs. The voters should think about it. They should support the coalition of JD(S) and Congress, which have shunned differences and joined hands putting the country first, she urged.

"Coalition nominee Madhu Bangarappa is treading the path shown by late S Bangarappa. He has helped more than 6,000 bagair hukum farmers get title deeds. Despite losing the elections in 2014 and 2018 (bypoll), he was successful in getting Rs 247 crore sanctioned for irrigation projects in the district. The people of the district should help Madhu serve them better by sending him to Parliament," Geetha Shivarajkumar appealed to the voters.

In the bye-election to Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency last year, Madhu had registered a moral victory as the margin of defeat was reduced to 52,000 votes from 3 lakh vote-margin in 2014 general election, she said and added that Madhu would defeat his rival by a big margin.
