Mannagudda Gurji on Dec 4

The 149th Deeparadhane Utsava ‘Mannagudde Gurji’ of Sharavu Sri Mahaganapathy Devaru will be held at Mannagudda on December 4.

Mannagudde Gurji Seva Samiti secretary Bhargava Tantri said that the programme will be formally inaugurated by Obstetrician and gynecologist Dr R Rathi Devi at 5.30 pm. The inaugural programme will be followed by Bhajan singing by varios bhajan troupes.

The cultural programmes will be inaugurated by Shankar Vittal Motors chairman and Managing Director, Dr Aroor Prasad Rao at 6 pm. Karnataka Bank’s chief operating officer Raghavendra Bhat M, Dhanalakshmi cashews, Moodbidri proprietor K Shripathi Bhat and B R Somayaji of Somayaji estate will be the chief guests. Gurji Seva Samiti president and Woodlands hotel proprietor Y Ramesh Bhat will preside.

Devotional songs will be sung by Anushree Rao and Swathi Rao later.

Sumangala Ratnakar and troupe from Yaksharadhana Kala Kendra will perform an yakshagana play ‘Shivabhakta Veeramani’ at 9.30 pm. The mahapooja will be held at 1 am, followed by ‘Sankeerthanopasane’, ‘Mangala’ and distribution of prasadam.

Bhargava Tantri further said that a temporary office of the gurji has been opened at the venue. The devotees may offer items such as oil, wicks, vegetables, coconuts and rare fruits.
