Minister offers prayer for rains

District-in-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao offered special prayers at Talacauvery for rain on Sunday.

The Minister was accompanied by MLA K G Bopaiah and district-level officers. The team offered special prayers at Bhagandeshwara temple at Bhagamandala and later visited Talacauvery. ‘Mahapooje’ and ‘Kumkumarchane’ were offered at Kundike in Talacauvery.

Later, special prayers were offered at Mahaganapathy and ‘Agasthyamuni.’ Speaking to mediapersons here, he said river Cauvery is the lifeline of State and Tamil Nadu. The river not only provides drinking water but also irrigates a vast farm land. The river Cauvery has the power to tackle drought in the district. We prayed for good rains.”

Stating that the government has undertaken measures to develop Bhagamandala and Talacauvery, he directed the officials to fix good quality roof at the kundike, the origin of River Cauvery, instead of plastic sheets.

He also inspected the place earmarked for the construction of Triveni Sangama near Bhagandeshwara Sannidhi.
