Mother, son end life in Karnataka's Shivamogga

The family, originally from Nyamathi taluk of Davangere district, had been engaged in medical services for many years through Hommaradi Hospital at Gandhi Nagar in the city.

Shivamogga: A city-based gynecologist and her son allegedly ended their lives by hanging themselves at their residence in Ashwath Nagar on Friday.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Jayashree Hommaradi (55) and her son Akash Hommaradi (34). Hommaradi family, originally from Nyamathi taluk of Davangere district, had been engaged in medical services for many years through Hommaradi Hospital at Gandhi Nagar in the city.

Dr Nagaraj Hommaradi, who was a pediatrician and spouse of Jayashree, had also ended his life 10 years ago. It is learnt that his son Akash Hommaradi's wife Navyashree had also taken the extreme step by hanging herself in the same house three years ago.

Dr Jayashree hanged herself in a ground floor room, while Akash's body was found in the first floor room. Akash had married another woman who was in another room.

Police said that the family was distressed by the death of their daughter-in-law Navyashree, as revealed in a death note found in the house. Vinobnagar police visited the spot and conducted an investigation.
