MUDA: Surplus budget presented

Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner D B Natesh presented a surplus budget of Rs 38.57 crore for the year 2021-22, in the presence of MUDA Chairman H V Rajeev, on Saturday. However, no new layouts are announced.

The commissioner announced multi-storey group housing schemes, rejuvenation of lakes, establishments of sports complexes among the others. A few members raised objection for not announcing new layouts even though there is demand for 80,000 sites and not taking measures to ensure sufficient drinking water.

MUDA expected a revenue of Rs 84.90 crore from approval of layouts, plan fee, taxes on house and sites, khatha and other fee. Major revenue of Rs 936.42 crore is expected from distribution and auctioning of sites and houses, Civic Amenities sites. In addition, Rs 27.96 crore revenue is expected from fixed deposits in various banks.

The commissioner proposed spending of Rs 674 crore for developmental works in the existing layouts.

MLC K T Srikantegowda suggested investing on needy projects rather than unnecessary works.

MLA B Harshavardahn, MLC R Dharmasena, MUDA Member Naveen, Lakshmi Devi, Madesh, MUDA Secretary M K Savitha and others were present.
