<p>Jain seer Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami was conferred the Bhagwan Mahaveer Peace award-2017 at a programme organised at Chavundaraya Saba Mantap in the Mutt, in Shravanabelagola, on Sunday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Minister for Kannada and Culture Jayamala, presented the award carrying a citation and Rs 10 lakh cash.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking on the occasion, Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami said, there was a need for greater effort to establish peace in the society.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“With the award, my responsibility has doubled. The cash prize of Rs 10 lakh will be utilised to establish peace,” the Swami said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">PWD Minister H D Revanna and others were present.</p>
