<p>The district administration, Zilla Panchayat and Social Welfare Department observed the 112th birth anniversary of former deputy prime minister Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram, at Old Fort Hall in Madikeri on Friday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Deputy Commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy, Zilla Panchayat CEO K Lakshmi Priya paid their tributes to the great soul on the occasion.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries said that Babu Jagjivan Ram who was fondly referred to as ‘Babuji’, and he served the country in various capacities such as deputy prime minister, labour minister, defence minister and agriculture minister.</p>.<p class="bodytext">His decisions drew wide appreciation from the general public. He brought out a revolution in the agricultural sector to boost productivity.
