President to take part in Pejawar seer’s fete

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in the temple town ahead of President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit on Thursday.

The president will be here to felicitate Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami of Pejawar Adhokshaja Mutt as the seer is completing 80th year of his initiation into sainthood.

National Security Guard commandos will provide security to Sri Krishna temple premises during the president’s visit to the temple. More than 900 police personnel will be on duty during the president’s visit to the town. Vehicular traffic on various routes has been diverted.

Vehicles entering the town from Malpe and Kalmady will be diverted to Kidiyoor, Ambalapady and Jodu Katte route while the movement of vehicles from Kundapur, Brahmavar, Santhekatte towards the town will be diverted through Ambagilu, Doddanagudde, Law College Junction and Beedanagudde.

Vehicles coming from Karkala, Hiriyadka and Manipal to the town should take a diversion at SMK Junction, Beedanagudde and Mission Compound and can reach Udupi. Similarly, the vehicles going to Malpe from the town should take a diversion through Jodukatte, Kinnimulki, Ambalapady, Kidiyoor and Kalmady.

The deputy commissioner has ordered the closure of shops and other commercial complexes in and around Circuit House in Bannanje, Sri Krishna temple, Rajangan, Sanskrit College and Car Street till 4 pm on December 27. The entry of devotees to Sri Krishna temple is prohibited from 6 am to 3 pm.
