Children of ESI Insured Persons are entitled to reservation in MBBS/BDS seats at ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation) Medical Colleges under Insured Person (IP) Quota.

ESIC, a statutory body established by an Act of the Parliament, under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, had set up medical educational institutions across the country.

There are 317 MBBS and 22 BDS seats reserved for the children of ESI insured persons in the different colleges run by ESIC/on behalf of the ESIC, all over the country, ESIC Director In-charge S Sivaramakrishnan stated in a press release.

Those who are insured under the ESI scheme as on October 31, 2018, can avail the benefit of reservation of medical seats in respect of their children.

Eligible candidates, who have appeared in the NEET exam, 2019, may apply online using the link https://www.esichospitals.gov.in/admissionportal

According to sources, the condition for eligibility had been relaxed from this academic year.

Earlier the insured person (IP) should have been covered for a minimum of five years, along with minimum days of contribution paid to ESIC, to enable his son/daughter to become eligible for the medical seat under IP Quota. Now, any person who is registered with ESIC as an insured person (31-10-18), can get his children to apply for the seat under IP quota.

The applications should be submitted online before May 28. For further details, refer to the admission notice under www.esic.nic.in/admissions dated May 13 or contact the nearest branch office of ESIC.
