<p>V Anjaneya, who claimed to have worked for a sister concern of OMC as a mines manager, said he “broke free from the clutches” of the firm and was now willing to aid the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Survey of India (SoI) in the probe against Karnataka ministers Janardhana Reddy and Karunakara Reddy and their brother Somashekhar Reddy.<br /><br />In the application, he sought the apex court permission for police protection from his former employers, saying he is willing to turn “approver” against them. A bench headed by Justices G S Singhvi and C K Prasad said the petition was posted before the Forest Bench for hearing along with the pending petitions on mines owned by the Reddy brothers.<br /><br />Withdrawal<br /><br />The bench also permitted the withdrawal of another prayer noting that the petitioner will approach the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission for seeking protection. Anjaneya’s advocate Anoop George Choudhury said the petitioner was prepared to assist the CBI and the team appointed by the Supreme Court headed by a top SoI official conducting the survey of the mines in Ananathpur, Andhra Pradesh.<br /><br />Anjaney claimed to have worked for the Anatra Gangamma Konda mine near the border between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh till December 2009. He alleges that the CBI should probe the destruction of Sugulamma Devi temple, which was on the state border. <br /><br />“Permit the petitioner (Anjaneya) to turn approver and co-operate with the investigation and confer necessary protection,” the petition filed through advocate Merusagar Samantaray said.<br /></p>
