<p>This follows media reports, besides grave concern expressed by a section of the society for doing nothing to preserve the building, once a source of inspiration for the great writer.<br /><br />Showcause notice<br /><br />MCC commissioner K S Raykar who held a meeting of officers on Tuesday morning said that a showcause notice has been issued to the assistant commissioner Thimmappa who gave permission to go ahead with the demolition.<br /><br />The MCC is understood to have sent a missive to the heritage department to declare such buildings in the city as heritage property to enable the local body to act against such activities. </p>.<p>That apart, the corporation wants urban development and Kannada and culture departments to take measures to restore the building, and convert the same into a museum.
