The row over wearing scarf has erupted again as a student has complained against the college authorities for not letting her wear a headscarf on the college campus.

The student has complained to the chief minister, the education minister, the Directorate of Collegiate Education and the Human Rights Commission.

A memorandum was submitted to Additional Deputy Commissioner Venkatachalapathi on Wednesday.

Fathima Fazil, in the memorandum, has said that she had attended her First PU classes in St Agnes College by wearing a headscarf. In the second year, the college has prevented her from wearing the headscarf inside the classroom.

In the letter, she has urged the authorities to ensure that the college authorities do not come in the way of religious freedom of the students and the students should be allowed to wear a scarf in the classroom.
