<p>MLA D K Shivakumar, his wife Usha and daughter Aishwarya visited Sringeri Sharada Mutt on Tuesday evening.</p>.<p>The family offered special prayers to the presiding deity Goddess Sharadamba, Shakti Ganapathy and Torana Ganapathy.</p>.<p>Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said that his family had made vows before the Goddess, while he was going through a harrowing period.</p>.<p>Thus I am visiting the temple to fulfil the vows made by my family, he added.</p>.<p>“I have also prayed for the betterment of the state,” he said.</p>.<p>The former minister meanwhile hoped that his friend Tanveer Sait, who suffered a fatal attack recently, would recover soon. He urged the government to initiate stringent action against the accused youth.</p>.<p>Shivakumar refused to comment on queries related to politics.</p>.<p>MLA T D Rajegowda, who was accompanying Shivakumar, accused the Centre of misusing institutions such as CBI and IT department.</p>.<p>“The Central government has misused its power to conduct raids on the residences of senior leaders during the elections, which has caused me pain,” Rajegowda said.</p>.<p>After paying obeisance to pontiffs Sri Bharati Theertha Swami and Sri Vidhu Shekhara Bharati Swami at Nrisimha Mutt, Shivakumar and his family donated a cow to the Gau Shala of the Mutt, by carrying out ‘Gau Daana’ ritual.</p>.<p>Later, the family travelled back to Bengaluru via Mangaluru.</p>.<p>During his visit to Sringeri, Shivakumar was accompanied by Congress leaders Maranakoodige Nataraj, Kadturu Dinesh, Sachin Meega and others.</p>
