Siddaramaiah kick-starts Mukya Mantri housing scheme

 The State government  on Tuesday  kick-started the process of receiving applications from those aspiring to own a house under "Mukya Mantri 1-lakh Housing Programme."

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who started the process at his home office "Krishna," said the programme is meant for economically weaker section in Bengaluru.

Houses will be built on the land provided by the Revenue department on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Ltd will implement the project, he added.

Annual income limit for submitting the application under the programme is Rs 87,000. And those who want to avail the programme should be residents of Bengaluru for a minimum of five years.

Cost of houses varies from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh. The government has decided to provide Rs 3.50 lakh subsidy SCs/STs, while others will be Rs given Rs 1.50 lakh subsidy, he added.

The application has to be submitted online.
