Star Air to operate flights on Hubballi-Tirupati route

The company, backed by the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, has won rights to fly out of Hubballi to Tirupati, Hindon and Pune.

Start Air has priced tickets at a starting price of Rs 1,299. It has commenced booking for Bengaluru-Hubballi, Hubballi-Tirupati and back and Hubballi-Bengaluru routes.

Earlier, this month, the airline received Air Operator Certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Star Air is the first Schedule Commuter Operator based out of Bengaluru International airport and will start flights from Bengaluru and Hubballi, the company said. Star Air is also looking to connect more cities across India under UDAN 3.

Star Air previously already had commenced air services through its Helicopter services and the airline services are new addition to the diversified businesses of the group, the company said in a statement.

Commenting on the new venture, the Chairman of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, Sanjay Ghodawat said, “We plan to help the Indian travellers connect to various locations at affordable rates and the best of services”.

Star Air will be operating fleet of Embraer ERJ145, which is the fastest in the category having 0.8 Mach Flying Speed. The seating capacity for the aircraft is 50 and have an average seat pitch of 31 inches.

UDAN scheme currently covers under- and unserved airports, most of them in remote parts of the country. The scheme offers exclusive traffic rights and subsidies to the airlines which connect the secondary and tertiary airports with major hubs in the country.
