Talacauvery all set to welcome President today

Final preparations are underway to welcome President Ram Nath Kovind, who will visit Talacauvery and Madikeri on Saturday.

The President, along with his family, will offer puja at Talacauvery - the birthplace of River Cauvery.

Following the visit of the President, the entry of devotees to Talacauvery has been restricted. Armed forces are camping at Talacauvery.

The red carpet has been spread at Talacauvery. The police and armed forces are on vigil.

The President will arrive in a helicopter at 11 am, at a helipad in Chettimani, near Bhagamandala. Later, he will leave for Talacauvery and will offer puja at 12.30 pm.

The district administration has directed all the shop owners to close down the shops situated on Chettimani-Bhagamandala-Talacauvery route.

After the puja rituals, the President will arrive at a helipad in FMC College ground in Madikeri, at 1 pm. From the helipad, he will be taken to Club Mahindra to take rest and have meals.

From Club Mahindra, he will travel to General Thimayya Memorial Museum via Army canteen-LIC Road-Raja Seat Road-East End Hotel Road. He will pay floral tributes to the war memorial and later inaugurate the museum.

The President will be at the museum for 45 minutes before leaving for Bengaluru. The security inside and outside the museum has been strengthened.

District In-charge Minister V Somanna will accompany the President.

Kannada and Culture Minister Aravind Limbavali will also take part in the inaugural ceremony of General Thimayya Memorial Museum.
