<p>High drama was witnessed at the drought relief review meeting, presided over by Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa, at the ZP auditorium here on Wednesday.<br /><br />Channarayapatna Tahsildar Vidyavathi was in tears while requesting the minister to cancel the notice, sending her on compulsory leave, issued by Deputy Commissioner V Chaitra.<br /><br />The minister, who was irked by tahsildar’s behaviour, told her not to to disrupt a meeting meant to discuss drought relief issue. <br /><br />He said, “It is not possible to cancel the notice. Go and do your work”. Channarayapatna MLA Balakrishna also tried to explain that only three months are left for her retirement and hence she should be allowed to complete her service. <br /><br />“Sending her on a compulsory leave will affect both development works and the official, personally,” he said. He was supported by MLAs K M Shivalingegowda and H K Kumaraswamy. But, the minister did not direct the DC to cancel the order.<br /><br />MLA H D Revanna, who intervened, alleged that the minister is supporting an inefficient Deputy Commissioner. “It is not right to send an efficient official on a compulsory leave”, he said.<br /><br />He consoled Vidyavathi saying, “You are far better than the DC. You are doing good work. Don’t cry. You do your work”.<br /><br />It may be mentioned that Revanna had been accusing the DC right from the beginning of the meeting.<br /><br /><br /></p>
