Troupes depict Karnataka’s heritage during Jamboo Savari procession

Over 1,600 artistes of 91 teams - including 500 women - performed 40 forms of rhythmic folk music and energetic folk dance, adding vigour to the Jamboo Savari procession. Besides 89 teams from Karnataka, two groups each from Haryana, Punjab, Odisha, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu participated.

Veerabhadra Kunitha, Keelu Kudure, Huli Vesha, Hagalu Vesha, Poti Vesha, Chilipili Gombe, Somana Kunitha, Kaththakali dolls, Maragaalu Kunitha, including the one depicting Mahishasura Mardini, Gaarudi Gombe featuring Anajyaneya and Nandi, were attractive.

Nandidwaja, Nandikolu, Hakki Pikki dance, peacock dance, Koli dance, Lambani dance, Malenadu Suggi Kunitha, Gumate dance, Kombu Kahale, Dollu Kunitha, Jaanj Pathak, Kamsale, Goravara Kunitha, Gorakaana dance, Karadi Majalu, Ranga Kunitha, Veerabhadra Kunitha, Khasa Bedara Pade, Tamate-Nagari, Kangilu Kunitha, Gondara Dakke, Donne Varase, Pata Kunitha, Puja Kunitha, women’s Chande, Bedara Kunitha, Saththige Kunitha, Halage Mela, saxophone, Jaggalige Mela, Hejje Mela, Lengi dance, Urume or Are Vaadya, Mullu Kunitha, Chit Mela, Daalapata, Jogathi dance, Datti Kunitha, Karaga Kolaata, Kanivaadana, Damami dance, flower dance, Karbal Kunitha and Veeramakkala Kunitha were performed.

Ghoomar dance from Haryana, Gidda Luddi dance from Punjab, Thappatam or Voyilaatam from Tamil nadu, Ghudka/Dhaap dance from Odisha, Daangi Daangi dance from Gujarat attracted the audience. Most of them performed on bare foot despite the scorching sun. All the artistes wore colourful uniform dresses.
