The escaped prisoners are - Maruti Sullevvanar (32) of Chinchali village in Raibag taluk of Belgaum district and Rehman Naikodi (28) of Marakabbanahalli in Basavana Bagewadi taluk of Bijapur district.
According to the complaint, six prisoners were put on the duty of cleaning the jail garden on Friday. At the end of the day, four of them returned to their cells and two were found missing. On verifying the attendance, Maruti and Rehman were found absconding.
