<p>Udupi SP Laxman Nimbargi said that all those DAR police personnel, who have served more than 10 years, will get a hike in their salary. </p>.<p class="title">Speaking at an eye and organ donation awareness programme organised as a part of the decennial celebrations of DAR police unit of 2008 batch, he said the DAR police personnel have become a model by taking up social activities.</p>.<p class="title">He said human organs cannot be created using the advanced technology. There is a need to create awareness on organ donation among people, he said.</p>.<p class="title">Prof Vinod Nayak of KMC Hospital, Manipal, said "Organ donation helps in saving the lives of the people. The organs like eye, heart, kidney, intestine of brain-dead persons can be donated. One needs to take consent of the family members of the brain-dead person to retrieve the organs. " </p>.<p class="title">He said the present lifestyle system has an impact on the health of an individual. India is the capital of diabetic patients and it is a matter of concern. One needs to give priority to health, he added.</p>.<p class="title">He said there is a demand for 65 lakh to 70 lakh organs in the country. There is lack of knowledge on organ donation among the people, he noted.</p>.<p class="title">Financial assistance was given to special school and old age homes on the occasion.</p>
