<p>Come May 1, it is mandatory to produce Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR) certificate for any future transactions -- be it the registration of properties, or the transfer of khata, in Mysore City Corporation’s limits, or the surrounding areas.<br /><br />Deputy Director of Town Planning and Land Records Prasad V Kulkarni has stated that the department has already completed works on documenting the properties along with its map and ownership rights in the city, and also 42 villages surrounding the city.</p>.<p><br />How to access<br /><br />The owners have to ensure that their properties come under the limits of afore mentioned areas. Later, they have to confirm with the officials concerned about the survey of the area and submit the property records. It is only after verifying the documents, will the officials decide on issuing the ownership certificate. In the case of incomplete information, the owners have to furnish the required details.<br /><br />Types of assets<br /><br />Properties in the city coming under UPOR have already been classified under different categories.<br /><br />They are: MUDA developed properties (layouts), gram thana, Ashraya houses, Janata Colony, Slum Board, private properties (in private developed layouts), Housing Board, Karnataka Industrial Area Developmental Board (KIADB), non-approved layouts (developed on alienated lands after conversion), properties in government owned lands, revenue properties and lands meant for agriculture.<br /><br />After submitting the documents as per the above listed categories, the property owners have to verify the stages of process (whether the enquiry is completed or draft copy of the ownership records is prepared) on the website.<br /><br />It can be verified online, with the help of khata number or door number, street, or by the name of its owner.<br /><br />Final stage</p>.<p><br />In the final stage, after enquiry related to properties, it is essential to visit the citizen service centers for thumb impression to authenticate the ownership rights and pay the prescribed fee. If the property is inherited, or obtained through division (with siblings) of properties, relevant documents have to be submitted.
