VJNL bags award for Yettinahole aqueduct

Bengaluru: State-run Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam Limited (VJNL) has won the ISDA Infracon National Award (IINA) for using "cutting-edge technology" in the Yettinahole project, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's office said in a communique on Tuesday. 

VJNL comes under Shivakumar, who is also the water resources minister.

The award, instituted by the Infrastructure Skill Development Academy (ISDA), was presented to VJNL in New Delhi on June 14.

"The award was given for the use of advanced technology in building a 10.47 km-long aqueduct between 199.62 km and 210.09 km stretch of the Yettinahole drinking water project. The work on the aqueduct project was started by the VJNL in 2018 and completed in 2023," Shivakumar's office said. 

The aqueduct can transport 3,300 cusec of water and works on gravitational force. The cost of the aqueduct was Rs 1,203.68 crore, including land acquisition cost of Rs 41 crore.
