Instead of concentrating on K R Circle and its surroundings, the police commissioner should think of an alternate route.

The park in front of the zilla panchayat can serve as a podium for protesters. They should be allowed to take out a rally to DC’s office from Ramaswamy Circle, JLB Road and a left turn at Maharani’s College junction.

The revised route is absurd as the service road is too narrow and will lead to further congestion — M Lakshmana, convener, Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore (ACICM).

Atrocity

It’s nothing but atrocity of police authorities. Lansdowne building road is too congested for vehicular movement, with one side of the stretch allowed for parking.

Also, the Kalinga hotel road that will be full of pushcart vendors — M K Somashekar, former MLA

First and foremost the right to protest vests with the public. The duty of police is to maintain law and order and regulate traffic.

We cannot keep our emotion intact and wait till the stipulated time whenever an untoward incident happens. — M Shashidhar SUCI (Communist) Mysore district secretary
We welcome the decision of reviewing the earlier decision. But the stipulated time and route is not acceptable. It is the right of the public to decide the time of protest. — B Ravi, district president, All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO)
