The exercise has been cancelled as the Air India staffers and other response teams had a real task before them on May 22 when Air India Express IX-812 crashed in Mangalore.

Air India General Manager (Quality Management Systems) Harpreet A DE Singh told reporters here on Saturday that the Air India had organised a seminar in Mumbai on March 10 to discuss about mock emergency response exercise to be conducted at various locations in the nation.

“It was decided that mock exercise should be conducted atleast four times in a year. Accordingly, we planned to conduct an exercise on May 29 and later it was postponed to May 31. It is unfortunate that we had to cancel our plans as our teams had to carry out a real emergency response exercise in Mangalore,” she added.
