<p>A youth Congress leader was shot dead in broad daylight in Kotnoor village on the Humnabad-Vijayapura national highway near All India Radio Receiving Station on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Tuesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The deceased Shabbir Mohammed, 32, Wadi Town Youth Congress Committee general secretary, was knocked down by a sports utility vehicle when he was riding a two-wheeler with a pillion. <br /><br />The assailants then attacked him with swords, fired two rounds from a revolver and fled the scene in their vehicle.<br /><br />Mohammed was rushed to the district general hospital where he was declared dead. The pillion rider identified as Christopher suffered injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.<br /><br />Mohammed is an accused in another shootout incident in Wadi. He was on bail and was on his way to Kalaburagi along with his associates to attend a court hearing.<br />A case has been registered.<br /></p>
