<p>Thiruvananthapuram: It is two months since 32-year-old Binil Babu hailing from Thrissur in Kerala was reported killed in the Russia-Ukraine warzone while working for the Russian mercenary.</p><p>But the family's wait for his mortal remains is still continuing. His relative Jain Kurian, 27, who suffered injuries in the war, is also still stranded in Moscow pleading for mercy of Russian authorities for return to homeland.</p>.Plight of more Malayali youths recruited for war in Russia comes out.<p>"I keep on asking the Russian authorities and the Indian embassy officials who visit me about Babu's body and my return. But so far I didn't get any positive response," Kurian told DH in an audio message from Moscow.</p> <p>Babu leaves behind his parents, wife Joicy and six-month-old son Jaick, whom Babu could not even see. The family is going through severe stress as the mortal remains were also not yet received. </p><p>"The delay in getting in the mortal remains is causing much distress to all of us. Joicy, who is a nurse at a hospital here, resumed her job so that she will be slightly relieved from the emotions," said their relative Saneesh.</p><p>Another Thrissur native Sandeep was earlier killed in the warzone and his body was handed over to relatives.</p><p><br>Babu and Kurian went to Russia last April with a job offer to provide support facilities like food and water to the Russian mercenary. Later they were forced to be part of the war without adequate training. Babu and Kurian had sent video messages telling their plight and pleading for help. But those distress calls fell on deaf ears.</p><p>Kurian said that on January 5 Babu was taken by the Russian military personnel to the war zone. Kurian, who was taken to the war zone the next day, spotted Babu's body. Later Kurian suffered injuries in the war and was shifted to hospital. Now he is at a hospital in Moscow and had undergone multiple surgeries.</p><p><br>Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken up the illegal recruitment of Indians to the Russian mercenary during his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin last year and the latter had reportedly responded positively to Modi's request to discharge those who wish to return. But even then the plight of Babu's family and Jain is continuing endlessly. Whereabouts of many Indians illegally recruited are also still unknown.</p>
