<p>Malappuram: A local court in Malappuram district on Monday granted bail to Independent <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/kerala">Kerala</a> legislator P V Anvar in a case relating to charges of vandalising the District Forest Office (DFO).</p><p>While considering the bail plea of Anvar, the Nilambur Judicial First Class Magistrate court rejected the application moved by the police seeking his custody for further investigation in the case and admitted the MLA's petition.</p><p>Anvar, who had been lodged in the Thavanur Central Jail, was released by the evening, according to a police officer.</p><p>The court granted bail on the condition of a surety bond of Rs 50,000 and an additional security deposit of Rs 35,000 for damages to public property, an official source said.</p>.Four killed after bus falls into gorge in Kerala's Idukki.<p>As part of the bail conditions, the MLA is required to report to the police station every alternate Wednesday, source added.</p><p>Workers of Democratic Movement of Kerala (DMK), a social collective led by Anvar, accorded a warm reception to the MLA in front of the jail.</p><p>The MLA was arrested on Sunday for allegedly vandalising the forest office following a protest over the death of a tribal man in an elephant attack in this north Kerala district.</p><p>Meanwhile, Anvar said that he will join with Congress-led UDF in the fight against the "administrative terrorism" and conspiracy against minorities by the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government.</p><p>Addressing the media after being released from jail, he said he is ready for any compromises to fight unitedly against Vijayan's anti-people regime.</p><p>He also thanked the Congress, Muslim League leaders and Thamarassery and Sultan Bathery Bishops for their support.</p><p>Vijayan has brokered a deal with RSS so that LDF would come into power in the state; hence they are hunting the minorities, he claimed.</p><p>Soon after Anvar was granted bail, the police arrested a leader of DMK, EA Suku, who is a close aide of the MLA.</p><p>He is the sixth person to be arrested in the case.</p><p>Nilambur police booked Anvar and 10 others over the incident under various sections of the BNS and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.</p><p>According to the FIR, around 40 people, led by the MLA, staged a sit-in protest in front of the forest office and 10 among them trespassed into the office of the North DFO later and destroyed articles in the office room.</p><p>They were also accused of obstructing the duty of public servants as they pushed away the police personnel who tried to block them, it said.</p>
