<p>Thiruvananthapuram: Moral policing by activists of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) is suspected have led to the death of a woman by suicide at Kannur in Kerala.</p><p>Raseena, 40, of Parambayi on the suburbs of Kannur was found hanging in her home on June 17. </p>.Moral policing: 5 held for abusing, attacking college girl, male friend in Bengaluru.<p>A suicide note recovered from the spot reportedy tells amount the humiliation she faced after being publicly shamed by three youths for talking with a male friend. </p><p>The police arrested three youths, all workers of the SDPI, which is considered as the political arm of banned outfit Popular Front of India. </p><p>While the incident triggered allegations of moral policing, the woman's mother denied it. SDPI leadership also claimed that they only tried to mediate in the issue as per the request of the women's family.</p><p>It was on June 15 that the youths allegedly conducted a public trial of Raseena and her friend Rahees while they were talking at a public place at Kayalode near her house. The youths allegedly asked Raseena to go home with her parents and her friend was taken to a nearby SDPI office. Two days later she was found hanging. She was married.</p><p>Police said that three youths, identified as Mubasheer, 28, Faizal, 34, and Rafzan, 24, were held as per the information from the suicide note. </p><p>Raseena's mother said that the youths were Raseena's cousins and they intervened in the matter as Raseena's friend Rahees was blackmailing her and extorting money from her. SDPI leaders also said that they only tried to settle the issue through mediation and the allegation that she was humiliated was baseless.</p><p>CPI(M) senior leader P K Sreemathy termed the incident as 'Talibanism'. "It is unfortunate that a section was still considering that a woman should not talk to any other males other than her husband," she told a section of media.</p><p>The incident happened at Dharmadom Assembly constituency represented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.</p>
