<p>Mumbai: A fresh wave of Covid-19 infections is sweeping across parts of South-East and East Asia, with Hong Kong, Singapore, China, and Thailand all reporting a noticeable rise in cases. India’s financial capital of Mumbai too is witnessing few few cases, however, the civic body denied deaths because of the virus and reasoned the cause as co-morbidities. </p><p>The Maharashtra government and the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has said that there is no major cause of concern and there is no reason to panic. </p><p>The King Edward Memorial Hospital at Parel has reported two deaths over the weekend. </p> .Shilpa Shirodkar tests positive for Covid-19.<p>A 54-year-old woman with cancer and a 14-year-old girl with kidney ailment passed away. Both were suspected to be infected with Covid-19.</p><p>However, the hospital said that the deaths are linked to their prevailing medical conditions. </p><p>The BMC, however, categorically denied that there were Covid deaths.</p> .<p>“Two patients, a girl (aged 14) and a woman (aged 54), have died at the KEM Hospital. However, hospital experts have determined that these deaths were not due to Covid but due to multiple serious illnesses like nephrotic syndrome with hypocalcemic seizures and cancer. </p><p>"Also, these patients were residing outside Mumbai (Sindhudurg and Dombivli),” BMC officials said on Monday.</p> .<p>Meanwhile, actor Shilpa Shirodkar has also tested positive.</p><p>Taking to Instagram, Shilpa wrote: “Stay safe….Hello people! I have been tested positive for COVID. Stay safe and wear your mask!- Shilpa Shirodkar.” </p> .<p>Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders - MLA Ajay Choudhari and former Mayor Kishori Pednekar met KEM officials to discuss the situation. “We met the KEM Hospital authorities. We were told that these deaths were not because of Covid but because of other issues…like one was linked to cancer and another kidney issue,” he said, adding that the government must not suppress information and inform people how to handle it.</p><p>“Initially, the hospital administration reported only two deaths, but according to my information, the total number of patients is actually ten, out of which eight have been transferred to Seven Hills Hospital,” he said.</p>
