Mumbai: In a shocking incident that unfolded in the wee hours of Sunday, two unidentified bike-borne men opened fire outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Mumbai.

Salman Khan (58) lives with his parents and family at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai's Bandra sea-face area.

Three to four rounds were fired, initial reports said.

It is not immediately known whether the actor was at home.

Teams of Bandra police and Crime Branch-CID have rushed to the spot.

A team of forensic and ballistic experts are present at the spot as well.

Over the past years, Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan, an eminent scriptwriter, have been facing death threats.

Since the 1998 blackbuck poaching incident, ganglord Lawrence Bishnoi has been after Salman.

In 2022, during a morning stroll, Salim Khan found a note saying “Salim Khan…Salman Khan… bahut jald aapka Moose Wala hoga” - a reference to Sidhu Moose Wala, a Punjabi rapper, who was shot dead.

Earlier, the Mumbai police had upgraded the security cover of Salman Khan and he was issued a gun license.

Around a year ago, Salman had acquired a new state-of-the-art bullet proof SUV giving him an additional layer of protection.
