<p>Mumbai: Amid widening rift among the MahaYuti-NDA partners, the Maharashtra government will amend the rules and regulations related to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) so that besides the Chief Minister both the Deputy CMs are accommodated. </p><p>The CM is the ex-officio Chairperson of SDMA while the Chief Secretary acts as the Chief Executive Officer. </p><p>Last week, the SDMA was reconstituted with Fadnavis becoming the Chairman and Deputy CM and NCP President Ajit Pawar, who is the Finance and Planning Minister, was included in the committee. </p><p>However, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, the chief leader of Shiv Sena, was not included and this rattled the party. </p>.Major tourism boost to Maharashtra's Lonar as govt plans to hold tourism festival every year, starting 2025.<p>The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi had been taking dig at the BJP-led dispensation over Shinde, the previous Chairman and ex-CM, being dropped. </p><p>Shinde is the Urban Development Minister and his role in managing the cities is very crucial during the time of disasters.</p><p>Section 14 of National Disaster Management Act 2005 mandates each State to establish SDMA. </p><p>If one looks at the notification, the eight-member SDMA includes Fadnavis (CM and Chairperson), Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik (CEO), Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Chandrashekar Bawankule, Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Jadhav-Patil, Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar and Prof Ravi Sinha and Prof Dipankar Chaudhari from Indian Institute of Technology-Mumbai were the non-government members.</p><p>Before the Cabinet meeting, Shinde openly voiced his resentment. “I am not bothered about being in or out of any committee…where there is a disaster, Eknath Shinde is always there to help people,” said Shinde. </p><p>However, Mahajan said that both the Deputy CMs are part of the SDMA.</p>
