<p>A 45-year-old man died in a stampede caused by the arrival of movie star Shah Rukh Khan at the Vadodara railway station late on Monday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Shah Rukh was aboard the August Kranti Express to promote his new film Raees. <br /><br />Farid Khan Pathan, a social activist and resident of Vadodara, fell on the platform as fans tried to catch a glimpse of the Bollywood star, travelling from Mumbai to Delhi.<br />Farid Khan was in the middle of a crowd that suddenly went berserk. Several fan clubs had shared details of Shah Rukh’s journey on social media.<br /><br />Farid Khan was rushed to Banker Heart Hospital, but was declared brought dead. He had died of a cardiac arrest triggered by suffocation, reports said. He was at the railway station to meet his niece and not to see Shah Rukh, according to Gulab Patel, a relative.<br /><br />“We tried to get the attention of the police. Instead of helping us, they pushed us. The crowd began running all over Faridbhai. If the police had intervened, we could have saved him,” the relative said. Police caned the crowds, and left some injured.<br /><br /> Two injured RPF officials received medical care. “We closed the ticket window at 9.30 pm as a preventive measure. The train was diverted to a different platform for better crowd management. We feared the narrow space between the train and the platform could prove fatal for the crowd,” a Railway Police Force official said. <br /><br />Unfortunate, says actorShah Rukh told mediapersons in Delhi that he was saddened by the death. “One can't do much before God's will... I have spoken to Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan (cricketers from Vadodara had gone to meet him at the station) and all help will be extended,” he said.<br /><br />His Twitter handle was quiet about the Vadodara incident, although he tweeted about his earlier stops at Vapi, Valsad and Surat, and also about a later stop at Kota, Rajasthan</p>
