<p>Guwahati: Drawing flak from many organisations representing the Meiteis, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh vowed to act against the 'Kuki terrorists', who according to him, had held six women and children in hostage and subsequently killed them in Jiribam district on November 11.</p><p>Singh, at the same time, applauded the CRPF and the state police for killing 10 "armed militants" belonging to the Hmar community in Jiribam on the same day. Hmars are ethnically linked to the Kuki-Zo community.</p><p>"Let me assure you that a hunt is currently underway for the Kuki terrorists and they will be brought to justice very soon. We will not rest until they are held accountable for the inhuman act," Singh said in a video message issued on Tuesday night.</p>.Manipur Congress requests Kharge to take action against Chidambaram over X post on regional autonomy.<p>Hours after the video, Kuki-Zo Council said that before launching mass operations against the Kuki-Zo 'volunteers', the state government must prioritise addressing "atrocities committed by the Arambai Tenggol and the Meitei militants" towards the Kuki-Zo communities since May last year. </p><p>Singh's video came amid a strong protest in the Meitei-dominated Imphal Valley districts demanding action against the Kuki insurgents, who had allegedly killed the six Meitei women and children. </p><p>"During the attack, 40 to 50 heavily armed terrorists launched an attack on internally displaced persons residing in a relief camp at Borobekra. Their aim was to spread fear. Because of the timely response by the CRPF, the attack was repelled and 10 terrorists were killed. I also want to thank our central leadership for their relentless commitment to bring peace. The meeting, however, was skipped by 21 MLAs including 10 representing the Kuki-Zo communities. The MLAs also sought to urge the Centre to withdraw AFSPA from the valley and hand over three cases to the NIA, besides others. </p><p><strong>Kuki-Zo MLAs counter</strong></p><p>Ten Kuki-Zo MLAs, who boycotted the NDA meeting, issued a statement contradicting the eight resolutions taken by the Meitei and Naga MLAs. They said the resolutions for acting against the Kuki Zo community were divisive, one-sided and communal. </p><p><strong>Kuki Zo Council angry</strong></p><p>Reacting to the resolutions, Kuki-Zo Council, a forum of several Kuki-Zo organisations on Wednesday said that the resolutions reflected "autocratic leadership" of Singh and the Arambai Tenggol, the Meitei radical armed group, in the state. "The resolutions highlight the extent to which Biren Singh and his militia have been able to exert control over the legislators," the council said in a statement.</p><p><strong>Curfew relaxed</strong></p><p>Meanwhile, the curfew has been relaxed for five hours between 5 am and 10 am in the Valley districts but the curbs on mobile and broadband internet were extended by another three days. The same timing for curfew relaxation will be maintained on Thursday as well, official notifications said.</p>
