<p>Imphal: A 48-year-old member of the proscribed outfit Hmar People's Convention (Democratic) was arrested in Manipur's Jiribam district and explosive materials were recovered from his possession, police said on Saturday.</p>.<p>A joint team of the state police and the Assam Rifles apprehended him from a place near Tuisolen village on the bank of the Barak river on Thursday, a senior officer said.</p>.<p>"Twenty explosive sticks, 11 detonators, one metre of safety fuse and 44 soap boxes, containing suspected brown sugar weighing 457 grams, were recovered from his possession," the official said.</p>.Arms and ammunition seized in Manipur's Kakching.<p>The arrested member of the banned outfit hails from Lungthuilien village in Pherzawl district.</p>.<p>An investigation is under way to ascertain why the militant travelled from Kuki-Zo-majority Pherzawl district to Jiribam with explosives and drugs, another official said.</p>.<p>More than 250 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence in Manipur since May last year.</p>
