Omar wants V K Singh claims probed

Breaking his silence over allegations of former Army chief General V K Singh’s assertions that several ministers in Jammu and Kashmir were given money by the Army, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the accusations need to be investigated thoroughly as it cannot be brushed aside.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an official function, here, Omar said the accusations made by General Singh have dented the image of all mainstream parties in Jammu and Kashmir.

“I won’t call what the General has said are revelations, they are accusations that damaged the image of all mainstream leaders especially those from Kashmir. I will certainly take up this issue with the Government of India for the action. There has to be further investigation,” he said.

The Chief Minister also said he has already taken up the allegations leveled against Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir with senior Congress leaders in Delhi. Omar , however, rejected the accusation made by General Singh that majority of the politicians in Jammu and Kashmir were being ‘paid’ by army.

“The accusations that majority of the politicians in the state were being paid by army is not true,” Omar asserted.
