The Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Left MPs, however, made it clear that while they were criticizing the government’s way of dealing with Team Anna and its protests, they did not entirely agree with their version of the Jan Lokpal Bill.
The UPA government, which is facing the wrath of the united opposition, told the House that it had constituted a panel – comprising Anna Hazare and his four aides, as well as five Union Ministers – to draft the Lokpal Bill, as a “unique experiment”, because it had thought in the wake of the veteran Gandhian’s April 5-9 fast that such a move was necessary in the drafting a legislation that had been in limbo for about 30-35 years.
