<p>Sachan was found hanging in hospital at the Lucknow district jail on Wednesday evening.<br />Sachan’s family, which had been handed over the doctor’s body on Thursday, refused to perform his last rites after the post-mortem examination revealed that his body had nine injury marks, indicating, what they claimed, his murder.<br /><br />Apprehending that the family might stick to its demand, senior officials of the administration had reached his house in the morning and tried to persuade the family to cremate him. While police officials claimed. Sachan had committed suicide, his kin alleged he was tortured and killed to “shield the real culprits who could have been involved in corrupt deeds in the family welfare department and had high connections.” They demanded a CBI probe into the matter. <br /><br />Though the family denied reports of any pressure and cremated the body in the afternoon, sources said it relented only after the officials exerted pressure on them. <br /> The members of his family said they would continue to press their demand for a CBI probe and would approach the Supreme Court if needed.<br /><br />On a petition seeking a CBI probe into Sachan’s death, the Allahabad High Court on Friday directed that the matter be listed before a regular bench on July 18. <br /><br />The Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission has also issued notices to the state police chief and others seeking their replies by July 12 in this matter which has raised questions on security issues in jail.<br /><br />The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a judicial probe and suspended five jail officials, including the jailor.<br /><br /> The police had claimed that Sachan had got his boss and CMO Dr B P Singh killed while the latter was taking a stroll near his residence in the Gomti Nagar area April this year after the he threatened to expose Sachan’s “corrupt deeds”.<br /><br />He was also suspected to have engineered the killing of Singh’s predecessor Dr V P Arya in same manner October last year.</p>
