Six killed in auto and lorry collision in AP

Six members of a family, who were returning from a wedding, were killed in a road mishap which took place in the early hours of Tuesday in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the Samarlakota Deputy Superintendent of Police, the accident occurred when an autorickshaw carrying 15 members was hit by a tipper lorry. Four including an auto driver, a three-year-old child and four women died on the spot. Two died while undergoing treatment at the Kakinada government hospital.

All the passengers were from Rameswaram village in Kakinada. The accident occurred near Sambamurty reservoir while they were returning from Vadlamuru village of Peddapuram block. Police say that the lorry driver might have dozed off and hit the auto head-on.

The police after hours of search finally found the tipper abandoned near a ceramic factory, parked off the road. Police seized the vehicle and are in search for its driver.
