<p>The acid attack on the 30-year-old doctor in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden was plotted by her colleague at ESI Hospital. </p>.<p>Through a friend, the accused had given a contract to two juveniles for Rs 25,000, police said on Thursday.<br /><br />Dr Ashok Yadav, a senior resident doctor with MBBS from Russia, proposed to Amrit Kaur for marriage, but she spurned his advances. Ashok and Amrit were also classmates in Russia, and knew each other for the past 10 years. In the capital, they were in touch of the past three years.<br /><br />Ashok used to frequently visitAmrit’s house inwest Delhi’s Hari Nagar. On Thursday,<br />police arrestedMayapuri-resident Ashok, his friend Vaibhav and apprehended the two<br />juveniles.<br /><br />Helping accused <br /><br />“Ashok had approached Vaibhav, who helped execute the attack on Tuesday. Through<br />Vaibhav, Ashok had given a contract to the two juveniles,” said Pushpender Kumar,<br />deputy commissioner of police (west), adding that Vaibhav handed over the money along<br />with Amrit’s photos to the two juveniles.<br /><br />Themotorcycle used by the juveniles was also found to be stolen from west Delhi’s Hari<br />Nagar on Sunday. After the attack on Amrit on Tuesday, 12 teams were formed by the<br />west district police.<br /><br />They shortlisted all the friends and colleagues of Amrit. “We questioned her friends and colleagues to determine whether she had any personal enmity or if anyone held a grudge against her,”Kumar added.<br /><br />It was found that the accused had followed Amrit from her house and harmed<br />her as they got an opportunity in the market area of Rajouri Garden. So, the robbery angle was ruled out and the police teams focused on personal enmity.<br /><br />On the basis of the call data records of Amrit’s mobile phone, Ashok was zeroed in<br />and was taken in for interrogation.<br /><br />Initially, Ashok tried to hoodwink the police teams, but broke down and confessed.<br />Ashok told police that he proposed to Amrit, but she did not respond positively.<br />“Amrit used to change the topic and say that she will marry a man of her parents’<br />choice. Once, Ashok was also told by her parents that they had chosen a groom,” Kumar<br />said. Ashok then told Vaibhav that he wanted to teach her a lesson. Vaibhav said that he<br />knew some criminals and contacted the two juveniles for executing the plot in lieu of Rs<br />25,000.<br /><br />A few days ago, they practised the acid attack with syringe to make their plot a success.<br />“Ashok used to fill a syringe with water and plan how it could be thrown at Amrit’s<br />face,”Kumar said.<br /><br />They had also tried to attack Amrit on December 17, but failed as she was travelling in<br />a car. After committing the attack on Tuesday, they assembled at a park in Hari Nagar<br />to hide Amrit’s bag.<br /><br />Reactions<br /><br />Amrit’s family was shocked upon coming to know that Ashok was behind the attack.<br />Police claim that when they were taking Ashok for interrogation, Amrit toldthemthat<br />he would not hatch such conspiracy and if police took Ashok for interrogation she<br />would withdrawthe case.</p>
