The CBSE has decided to keep in-service training of teachers as an important criteria while considering applications from schools to extend their affiliation.

The Board has observed that the schools do not send their teachers for in-service trainings organized by government bodies. Most schools, indeed, fail to nominate teachers for capacity building programmes organized by the seven centres of excellence created for the purpose.

“This means the schools are violating the affiliation bye-laws,” official sources told Deccan Herald, adding that the provisions of the bylaw ask schools to send their teachers for training programmes at least once a year in teacher training institutes recognized by the state or central government.

The Board has set up seven ‘centres of excellence’ to provide “systematic” in-service training programmes.
