Two Bangladeshi nationals arrested in Hyderabad for illegal stay with fake documents

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Task Force sleuths apprehended two Bangladesh nationals who were illegally residing in Hyderabad using forged documents. Four Indian facilitators who helped the foreign nationals obtain fake identification papers were also arrested in the operation.

The Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Mohammad Hasibul, who had been using the fake name Jovan Chowdhury, and Rohan Saha. Both are natives of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and were found staying in Saleem Nagar Colony, Malakpet, without valid entry documents.

According to police officials, Mohammad Hasibul entered India illegally about four years ago through traffickers at the Benapole-Bongaon border crossing between Bangladesh and India. He reportedly paid Rs. 25,000 to traffickers for the "donkey route" passage. After crossing into West Bengal, Hasibul initially settled in South Howrah, Kolkata, where he worked as a karate trainer earning approximately Rs. 20,000 per month. During this time, he obtained a fake Aadhaar card under the name Jovan Chowdhury.

In December 2023, Hasibul developed a friendship with a woman named Jaya Chowdary from Malakpet, Hyderabad, through Facebook. Police said he fraudulently married her after concealing his true identity and subsequently moved to Hyderabad, where he started working as a Zomato and Swiggy food delivery agent while also running an online garments business.

While living in Hyderabad, Hasibul approached local facilitator Mohd Muqeed, who runs a pan shop in Malakpet. Through Muqeed and his associates T Sai Kiran and G Rajnikant, Hasibul obtained a fake birth certificate from Narsingi Municipality claiming he was born in Ranga Reddy District. This document was allegedly processed with the help of D Sudheer Kumar, an outsourcing computer operator in the Sanitation Section of Narsingi Municipality.

Using this falsified birth certificate, Hasibul subsequently acquired an Indian voter card through facilitator G Rajnikant and had applied for an original Aadhaar card to establish himself as an Indian citizen.

The second Bangladeshi national, Rohan Saha, previously worked as a tourist guide and was illegally staying in Kolkata. According to police, Hasibul brought Saha to Hyderabad in March 2025 to support him and his pregnant wife, providing shelter at his residence in Malakpet and arranging a fake Aadhaar card for him.

The arrested Indian facilitators were identified as Mohd Muqeed (39), T. Sai Kiran (50), G. Rajnikant (46), and D. Sudheer Kumar (27).

During the operation, authorities seized several items including a xerox copy of Mohammad Hasibul's Bangladesh passport, fake Aadhaar cards belonging to both foreign nationals, a fake birth certificate, an election voter card, seven cell phones, and a laptop.

Police are also examining whether the accused were involved in any other illegal activities during their stay in India.
